The Ambience Extractor is used to improve and compensate for flaws in stereo recordings. It simply sweetens and broadens the spaciousness of the stereo image. It can also be used for recovering, modifying, and widening the stereo information not readily heard (Maxx Stereo and Ambience Modes), creating a stereo recording from a mono source (Mono To Stereo Mode), removing the center information (Remove Center mode - voice cancellation), and simply panning and controlling the gain.

The Ambience Extractor is not a 3D sound rendering program. It uses classic audio processing principles and offers a high level of digital precision, mono compatibility, with minimal distortion.

The Ambience Extractor is used to adjust the stereo level, balance and mix. It does have the ability to greatly increase the overall volume and widen the stereo image. For example you can reposition a center image of a sound source which has been improperly recorded, or adjust the left or right channels without affecting the center information.
