USA Relief hi-res maps make map publishing and presentations easier and more affordable than ever

USA Relief provides a set of 4 full color shaded relief maps, one grayscale relief map and a richly detailed EPS vector map for each US State. The JPEG maps constitute a highly detailed topographic base over which the EPS vector data features such as coastlines, rivers, interstate and major road systems, railroads, county, state and international borders, state color fills, town locations, town names text, latitude and longitude grids, are overlayed. The state map images are generated at a scale of 100 meters per pixel for each of the 48 states within the continental United States and Hawaii. The USA Relief terrain JPEG image maps correspond exactly to the EPS vector map and combined give a highly customizable and detailed colorized shaded relief state map.

These individual state maps can be easily and quickly loaded into most desktop design, publishing, presentation, draw, paint, or image editing software applications for the highest quality geographical representation of any part of the USA. Applications such as Adobe Illustrator (preferred), Macromedia FreeHand or Corel Draw can edit line styles, width and color, switch on or off layers, add your own layers and customize map appearances in a multitude of ways. Adobe Photoshop, Corel Paint or any other image editor can edit the relief maps and the individual state may be extracted from the map using a state mask. The maps can be imported directly into page layout or presentation applications such as Quark Xpress or Adobe PageMaker, and used for film separated output for high quality printing, desktop publishing or multimedia and web presentations.

Features, layers and selectivity

Illustrator EPS layers offer a high degree of selectability.
The layers palette provides the ability to switch on or off and edit selective features within each map. Layers are available for:
* Box Rule - outline box in 1 point around the map
* International and state borders and county lines on separate layers
* State fill colors for each state and partial state featured on map
* Coastlines and blue fills for lakes and inland water areas
* City and town locations, with names on a separate layer
* Graticules of latitude and longitude at 1º of separation
* Hydrography - river and tributary systems, with names on a separate layer
* Major highways, interstate and toll roads on separate layers
* Railroads on a single layer
* Placed Relief Map - one of the five state relief image maps (see below) is placed on this layer

The State relief maps are presented in five styles:
* Four color relief map styles are in RGB 24 bits per pixel, 300 pixels per inch JPEG - to view the previews for this state see http://www.usarelief.com/ust_il.htm
* Low contrast elevation style, green lowlands, tan mountains
* High-contrast style, sienna lowlands, greener higher elevations
* Natural look style using a blended green to grey elevation coloration
* Standard cartographic map elevation color scheme based on changing colors over 10 elevation bands
* Grayscale relief map is supplied in 8 bit grayscale, 300 pixels per inch, provided for designers to generate color scheme to match or who wish to apply their own custom house styles to the relief maps
* Bitmap mask outline of each state for use with Photoshop channels to separate actual state from surrounding states
