How Does Speedlane Work?

Will it work with my browser and modem?  
Yes! Because Speedlane works by optimizing TCP/IP inside the operating system, it applies to every Internet software and every Internet connection. Speedlane has been sold in over 30 countries, to users with 14.4k modems and T-1s, old and new browsers of any make. 

Where do I install Speedlane?  
You can download Speedlane to the desktop or to any convenient place on your computer and start it from there. It is complete in itself and does not install or need any DLLs. Therefore no installation process is necessary. If the filename you downloaded is not ending in '.exe', you need to rename the file to 'speedlane.exe' before you can use it. It will then be visible as a red 'S' icon.

How Do I know Speedlane is loaded/active?  
Once you have used Speedlane to optimize the hidden variables inside the Windows95 operating system, page load times and downloads will be shorter. Speedlane will not need to be started when you reboot or connect. You will still see the same connect speed (e.g. 31,200) displayed when you connect to your ISP. What About Other Operating Systems and WebTV? 
Speedlane works on Windows98. A Windows NT version is in the works and will be released in May 98. We also expect to have a Macintosh version (68K and PowerMac) by August 98. Currently there are no plans for a Windows 3.1 version or other operating systems. Sorry, it does not work on WebTV. What About Other Speedup Software? 
Almost all commercial speedup software can be classified as 'preloaders'. They use the time that you spend reading a webpage to download links on that page. They work nicely if you click one of the first links on that page, but don't help if you go to a bookmarked page or type in a new URL. Some programs refresh pages that you have looked at before, in the expectation that you will re-visit them.

Download Problems 
Speedlane is sold online through the Digital River commerce system. We have hired this experienced company to make sure that all your credit card transactions are handled safely. Please contact their service center, if you have additional questions. Your browser needs to accept cookies to use this system.  
After you finish the buying process, the last page allows you to download the product by clicking on the product name. You will receive an email receipt within a few hours with your customer# and order#. Please make a private note of your password. 
Go to the customer service page to download the software again with your order# and password. This service is available four times a day for a few weeks. 
If the downloaded file does not end with '.exe', please rename it to 'Speedlane.exe' before starting. 

Side Effects 
Speedlane has been very carefully designed not to interfere with other software. While it is certainly possible to slow down Internet connections by using the wrong values, Speedlane will not otherwise affect the operation of your computer. The Uninstall button will cleanly remove all changes from the operating system, but not erase the software.
