Speedlane Instruction Manual

Speedlane is working with complex internals of the Windows95 operating system, but hides them behind different layers of user interface. The first-time user will see the ultimately simple interface:

In most cases, pressing the OK button will give a very satisfying speed increase and there is no need to go to the following screens. As you can see, we have replaced the slider that you saw in the banner ad with a simpler radio button interface.

There are further optimization possibilities available by pressing the 'More Choices' button. The 'fast' option in the previous screen in fact selects the Modem 1 option available below.

This screen presents a variety of optimization choices for different Internet connections. It hides the complexity of the underlying system variables by presenting sets that correspond to different connection types.
Some experimentation is required to select the Modem setting that is appropriate. For modems, a total of 4 options have been provided. Most often, Modem 1 will work the best, but depending on the ISP and network structure, better results may be achieved with Modem 2-4. You can also try settings that don't seem to apply to you. We know of one cablemodem user who had his best results with the Modem 1 setting.
The 'Uninstall' button will restore the system to its original state before any Speedlane changes have been made. It will not erase the software.

For the expert, Speedlane finally provides the screen that accesses all the variables that Speedlane optimizes. Speedlane will still make sure that no erroneous values can be entered and there is no possibility of disturbing the system more than making a difference in Internet and network speeds.

The last parameter, 'Fast Dialup' will set the Dial-Up Networking to dial the access number immediately when a connection is double-clicked. Please be sure to have the password entered before selecting this option.
