Digital River Makes Executive Appointments to Capitalize on Ecommerce Opportunities

Expands key leadership roles in its sales and account management organizations

MINNEAPOLIS — Oct. 24, 2016 — Digital River, Inc., a leading global provider of Commerce-as-a-Service solutions, announced it has made several new executive appointments in its international sales and account management organizations. David Woolenberg, senior vice president of global sales, and Stewart Sagastume, senior vice president of global account management, will assume expanded leadership roles. In addition, Marco Vergani was promoted to senior vice president of international sales and account management. Woolenberg, Sagastume and Vergani report to Digital River chief executive officer David Dobson.

Dobson explained, “The lines between digital and physical product markets are blurring as more hard goods manufacturers introduce service offerings supported by subscription-based models. Like our digital customers, branded manufacturers are looking to go global and go direct to not only build customer loyalty, but also create profitable recurring revenue streams. These are all areas where we excel. We are aligning our sales and account organizations to respond to these shifting needs and capitalize on this significant market opportunity.”

David Woolenberg was recently named Digital River’s senior vice president of global sales. In his expanded role, Woolenberg will take on added responsibility for driving Digital River’s net new sales worldwide. In addition to overseeing new sales for the company’s digital business, which includes the software and games markets, Woolenberg will now be charged with landing clients for its branded manufacturing business. Woolenberg has been with Digital River since 2003. With more than 20 years of strategic sales experience, Woolenberg has helped the company accelerate its growth across the software publishing industry and specializes in building subscriptions-based businesses.

Stewart Sagastume, senior vice president of global account management, also will assume a broader role at Digital River. Sagastume will have expanded responsibility for managing the growth and client satisfaction of the company’s existing digital and branded manufacturing accounts in the Americas. In addition, Sagastume will continue to lead the charge in growing the company’s self-service ecommerce business and MarketForce digital agency. Sagastume joined Digital River in 2007. He brings more than 25 years of experience in professional services, operations, strategy consulting and large-scale IT implementations.

Marco Vergani was promoted to senior vice president of international sales and account management. Working with Woolenberg and Sagastume, Vergani will continue to lead the growth of Digital River’s business in EMEA as well as add oversight for the Asia Pacific region. Since joining Digital River in 2014, Vergani has helped grow the company’s global business, including winning a number of large accounts. He has more than 28 years of experience overseeing and developing international sales teams, strategic alliances and distribution channels, including serving in a variety of executive roles at IBM.
