Digital River Partners with Japan-Based Ecommerce Provider, NSW

Helps branded manufacturers and digital content companies capitalize on cross-border ecommerce opportunities

MINNEAPOLIS — Dec. 10, 2015 — Digital River, Inc., a leading global provider of Commerce-as-a-Service solutions, announced that it has signed a strategic alliance agreement with NIPPON SYSTEMWARE (NSW), one of Japan’s leading ecommerce solutions providers. Together, the companies intend to help international branded manufacturers and digital publishers bridge the East and West by expanding their cross-border businesses and providing access to a combined suite of localized ecommerce and emarketing solutions.

“Our strategic alliance with NSW will easily allow our shared customers to enter geographies outside of their home markets and establish themselves as local merchants. Our partnership will also help them reduce the risks of global ecommerce and ultimately accelerate time to revenue,” said Humphrey Chan, vice president and general manager of Asia Pacific for Digital River. “With $300 billion in cross-border ecommerce opportunity at stake, merchants can’t afford to delay global expansion. In order to compete and successfully reach shoppers outside of their own country, it is more important than ever to deliver a seamless and localized shopping experience.”

NSW has been offering ecommerce solutions to help branded manufacturers and digital publishers expand their online businesses in the Japanese market for more than 15 years. NSW specializes in developing and managing Japanese online stores. This includes handling new shopper acquisition activities, integrating mobile and back-end applications with ecommerce platforms, providing analytics solutions, and processing back-office administration functions.

Founded in 1994, Digital River provides a full-service, cloud-based ecommerce solution designed to support the worldwide marketing and sale of digital products and physical goods. The ecommerce solution is built on the company’s Commerce Business Infrastructure, which helps merchants reduce the risks associated with international payment processing, tax and regulatory compliance, fraud, global fulfillment and other complex ecommerce operations.

“Engaging online shoppers today is dependent on a deep understanding of their culture and purchase preferences. We are looking forward to working with Digital River to not only help companies address local customer needs, but also solve the complex technical and regulatory requirements associated with building a cross-border business,” said Susumu Oota, senior executive corporate officer and member of the board from NSW.
