Maxon is a German software company founded in 1986. The company offers award-winning software products for the creative industries. Its flagship product is Cinema 4D, a 3D modeling, painting, rendering, and animation software used in 3D graphics, architectural and product visualizations, video game graphics, illustrations, and more. Other products include Forger, Red Giant, Redshift, Universe, and ZBrush.

The Story

Maxon partnered with Digital River to accelerate and simplify international expansion into China and other markets. While ecommerce opportunity in China is lucrative, the country’s unique cultural and regulatory conditions create barriers to entry. Maxon chose Digital River for its 25+ years of global commerce experience and merchant of record business model to minimize risk and complexity.

In less than four weeks, Digital River helped Maxon launch a direct-to-consumer store in China. The Maxon China store features a Digital River checkout integration that optimizes conversions with local payment methods, currencies, tax calculation, and all legally required disclosures. In addition to providing a localized checkout experience, Digital River manages all recurring billing, taxes, fraud, and regulatory compliance on behalf of Maxon. A dashboard also provides Maxon with deep ecommerce analytics into their performance so they can drive better business decisions overall.

Previous to the China store launch, Digital River helped Maxon consolidate two separate branded stores into the one Maxon store while also seamlessly migrating existing subscriptions. With multiple brands unified under one shopping experience, an expanding international presence, and Digital River managing international tax and compliance challenges, Maxon is well positioned for rapid growth.
